Michael McLeod, Ph.D. is the senior Computational Biologist and Bioinformatician on the Rhodococcus sp. RHA1 Genome Project, responsible for leading the annotation of this genome. His previous experience includes contributions to the human, fruit fly, and rat genome projects with Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center in Houston, Texas. In addition, he has been part of several bacterial genome projects including Treponema pallidum, the causative agent of syphylis, Treponema denticola and led the annotation team for the recently published genome of Rickettsia typhi, the causative agent of endemic typhus.
